Billy J. Burgher joined the Port in 2025 as a Boatyard Attendant, where he assists with haul‑out procedures, property maintenance, forklift and telehandler operation, and general housekeeping across the yard.

Before joining the Port, Billy worked at Sopko Welding Inc. as a general assistant, fabricating small parts, supporting supervisors and coworkers on various projects, and regularly operating forklifts while loading and unloading steel shipments. Billy holds a B.S. in Business Management from Linfield University.

Billy enjoys working closely with his co-workers at the boatyard. The work can be demanding at times, but Billy feels a strong sense of accomplishment after completing each task. Many people don’t realize the level of precision and attentiveness required during haul‑outs, and Billy takes pride in staying proactive and detail‑oriented to ensure operations are completed safely and successfully.
