Skipanon Natural Gas Facility

On a project that dates back to 2004, Oregon LNG is planning the construction of a receiving facility for the transfer of Liquefied Natural Gas on 96 acres leased from the Port of Astoria on the Skipanon Peninsula. The LNG project will involve three large 150-ft. tall tanks, surrounded by extensive safety structures, a pier for docking the tankers transporting the LNG, and a 118-mile pipeline to join the existing natural gas distributing system in Molalla, OR. The construction of this project, expected to take three years once it’s begun, will involve 2.5 million man-hours of jobs. Plus, once completed, the facility will provide approximately 75 family-wage jobs for its operation. The project is expected to bring in $8 to $10 million yearly in property taxes to the City of Warrenton and to Clatsop County taxing districts.
