When asked if there was anything else we could have done to make their visit to the region more enjoyable, Everett and Alice H. from Beaumont commented, "No, as the volunteers and bus/shuttle personnel ran an efficient operation. Everyone was pleasant and helpful.
"The merchants with whom we dealt were most friendly and welcoming to those of us who were cruise ship visitors.
"Astoria should be proud of the friendliness shown by those people making this port a delightful place to visit."
"Just wanted to give you a quick e-mail to say thanks for a wonderful day in your beautiful city. I was able to get ashore with my wife Elaine (Deputy Cruise Director whom you met earlier in the day) and her mother and father who are currently traveling with us. Our initial impressions were great with friendly volunteers in the port area and a wonderful selection of local vendors with arts & crafts etc - our passengers and crew seemed to be keeping the stalls busy! The downtown shuttle service was great in both directions - our driver/guides were very happy to explain the features of Astoria especially the Maritime Museum and the Astoria Column. All of your volunteers on and off the shuttles seemed truly proud of their city and were genuine in their enthusiasm for tourism in general. We ate lunch at Baked Alaska with a beautiful view of the Columbia River - the service was great and the food was superb, we recommended it highly to the other crew and passengers we saw after leaving!
I have to tell you that this was a truly warm welcome from Astoria and in my estimation one of the most cruise-ship friendly ports I have ever visited. Our passengers seemed very happy with their visits ashore, the crew were well taken care of with their visits to Fred Meyer and Costco and even the weather cooperated!
I certainly hope to visit again in the future and hope that we see you on a more regular basis!"
We have MANY more testimonials which will be added as the site progresses.
